Refund Policy

We want you to love what you buy from us. If a plugin isn’t working out — for any reason — you can ask for your money back within 30 days of purchase. No interrogation, no hoops.

This policy is offered by Nocturn Audio LLC (the company that makes the plugins). For purchases outside the United States, your order is processed by Lemon Squeezy Inc. as our merchant of record; in those cases this policy is honored alongside Lemon Squeezy’s own buyer terms and any rights you have under the consumer-protection laws of your country.

1. The Short Version

  • 30-day money-back guarantee on every paid plugin you buy directly from us.
  • Email hello@nocturnaudio.com with your order ID, or click Request Refund in your account dashboard.
  • We process eligible refunds in 5–10 business days to your original payment method.
  • Once refunded, your license is automatically revoked — please uninstall the plugin.

2. What’s Covered

This policy applies to:

  • One-time plugin purchases made directly at nocturnaudio.com (FAT-X3, FAT-X8, and any future paid plugin).
  • Bundles (e.g., the FAT-X3 + FAT-X8 bundle) — see Section 8.
  • Rent-to-Own (RTO) plans — see Section 9.

This policy does not apply to:

  • Eclipse, our free clipper. Free products are not refundable because there is nothing to refund.
  • Demos, trials, or beta versions.
  • Purchases made through third-party resellers (e.g., Plugin Boutique, Lemon Squeezy affiliates) — those are governed by the reseller’s refund policy. We’ll do our best to help you contact them.

3. How to Request a Refund

You have two options:

Option A — Account dashboard (fastest)

  1. Log in at nocturnaudio.com/account
  2. Find the order under Purchases
  3. Click Request Refund
  4. We’ll confirm by email within 1 business day

Option B — Email

Send a note to hello@nocturnaudio.com with:

  • The order ID (it’s in your purchase confirmation email — looks like ORD-XXXXXX)
  • The email address you used at checkout

You don’t owe us a reason. If you want to share feedback we’d love to hear it, but it’s not required.

4. Processing Time & Destination

  • Approval: usually within 1 business day of your request.
  • Refund issued: within 5 business days of approval.
  • Funds back in your account: typically 5–10 business days total, depending on your bank or card issuer.
  • Where it goes: the original payment method used at checkout. We can’t refund to a different card, PayPal account, or bank.

For purchases processed by Lemon Squeezy, the refund is issued in the same currency you were charged, at the same total (so if foreign-exchange rates have shifted, the dollar value you see may differ slightly from the original — that’s the FX market, not us).

5. License Revocation

When we refund a purchase, the corresponding license is automatically deactivated. The plugin will stop authorizing on any computer where you installed it. You must uninstall the plugin and remove any remaining files.

Continuing to use a plugin after a refund has been processed is a breach of our End User License Agreement and a copyright violation.

6. EU, UK, and Other International Customer Rights

If you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with statutory consumer-protection laws, you have additional rights that we honor in full.

EU Customers (Right of Withdrawal under Directive 2011/83/EU)

When you check out, Lemon Squeezy presents a checkbox asking you to consent to immediate access to your download and to acknowledge that, by doing so, you waive your 14-day right of withdrawal under Article 16(m) of the Consumer Rights Directive. You don’t have to check that box — if you leave it unchecked, you keep your full 14-day withdrawal right and we will not deliver your download until either (a) you check the box, or (b) the 14 days expire.

Either way, our 30-day money-back guarantee still applies. Whichever right is more favorable to you is the one that governs your purchase.

UK Customers (Consumer Rights Act 2015)

You retain all rights under the CRA 2015, including the right to a refund if the plugin is faulty, not as described, or unfit for purpose, in addition to the 30-day guarantee here.

All Other International Customers

Your local consumer-protection laws apply on top of this policy. Nothing in this Refund Policy waives any non-excludable consumer right you have under the law of your country of residence.

7. Chargebacks

If you’re unhappy with a purchase, please contact us first. We will almost always resolve it faster than your bank can — and a refund is the cleanest path for everyone.

A chargeback is not a refund request. A chargeback is a dispute filed with your card issuer that asks them to forcibly reverse a charge. When that happens:

  • Your license is automatically and permanently revoked the moment the chargeback is filed, before the dispute is resolved.
  • We will not process a separate refund for the same purchase.
  • If the chargeback is decided in our favor and the charge stands, your license is not automatically restored — you’d need to repurchase.
  • Repeated or fraudulent chargebacks may result in your account being closed and future purchases blocked.

If you’ve already started a chargeback and changed your mind, email us at hello@nocturnaudio.com and we’ll work with you to withdraw it and resolve the underlying issue.

8. Bundle Refunds

If you buy a bundle (e.g., FAT-X3 + FAT-X8 for $109.99) and want a refund:

  • Whole bundle within 30 days: full refund, all licenses in the bundle revoked.
  • One plugin from the bundle: not supported. You must refund the entire bundle, then repurchase the plugin you wanted to keep at its individual price.

This mirrors the standard industry practice (Plugin Alliance, Plugin Boutique, etc.) and prevents bundle-discount arbitrage where a customer would otherwise pay $20 net for a $49 plugin.

9. Rent-to-Own (US Customers Only)

If you’re paying for a plugin on a Rent-to-Own plan and want a refund:

  • Within the first 30 days of your initial payment: full refund of all payments made to date, license revoked. Same as a one-time purchase.
  • After 30 days: we don’t issue refunds for past RTO payments. You can stop the plan at any time — no fees, no penalties — by clicking Pause Plan in your account. Your license enters FROZEN state, your plugin stops authorizing on new sessions, and all the payments you’ve made are credited toward the plugin’s full price. If you decide to come back later, you pick up exactly where you left off.

This balances fairness (you get a real money-back guarantee at the start) with sustainability (we can’t refund 11 months of payments on plugin #12).

10. Exceptions

We reserve the right to refuse a refund if:

  • The request is made more than 30 days after the original purchase date.
  • We have evidence of refund abuse (e.g., the same customer requesting refunds on a repeating pattern after extended use).
  • The purchase appears to be fraudulent (stolen card, identity theft, etc.) — in which case we’ll work with the cardholder of record, not the person who used the card.
  • The license was acquired through a chargeback that was decided in our favor.
  • The customer’s account has been suspended for terms-of-service violations (piracy, license sharing, abusive conduct).

Nothing in this section waives mandatory consumer rights you have under your local law.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The version that applies to your purchase is the one that was live at the moment you completed checkout — we’ll never apply a less generous policy retroactively to an existing purchase.
